AcademyHealth’s Health Datapalooza sits at the intersection of disruptive ideas, rigorous evidence, and courageous discussions among leaders in the data and policy spheres. Changemakers will meet in February at this unique event to connect over a common goal: unlocking data and developing smart policies to innovate and improve health and health care for all. RTI is a proud supporter of 2023 Health Datapalooza, connect with us at the exhibitor hall to learn more about how we are working toward data modernization.
THE RTI RARITY TOOL
Public health officials at the federal and state levels have called for a better way to measure, predict, and adjust for social factors in health care and population health. How can we employ data science to improve health equity? How can data from numerous sources be curated and used to inform decisions concerning community-level social, behavioral, environmental, and economic factors for quality health care?
The Build Health Equity with Data Science webinar discusses how the RTI Rarity project takes an “artificially intelligent” approach to risk adjustment for local social determinants of health (SDoH). Drawing from a national dataset with over 150 small-area measures, the RTI Rarity tool uses random forest models to understand life expectancy at birth, as well as other health outcomes, at the Census tract, ZIP code, and county levels across the U.S.
RTI International’s MetaMatchMaker (M3) is a suite of cutting-edge AI approaches and tools; this suite saves time and reduces costs related to finding and integrating genomic, molecular, and clinical data for analysis. Attendees can learn how to improve data discovery and data harmonization processes by using the M3 suite, which includes
- The M3 natural language processing neural network (M3:NN) that was trained using data from ~30,000 unique, manually mapped study concepts. M3:NN has been used to create two pieces of software to support data discovery and linking.
- A free data discovery tool—M3:Find—which allows users to find and share publicly available data across numerous databases.
- M3:Link, a data linkage tool, allows users to link study terms between multiple studies, enabling faster data integration across cohorts; this solution is also useful for building common data elements.
The webinar highlights examples of how the M3 suite has reduced the time and budget for harmonizing complex datasets by more than 50%.
