Developing technology to address challenges surrounding the water-energy nexus

The quality and security of water—and emerging aspects related to it—are rapidly becoming global issues. Our multidisciplinary teams of chemists, engineers, environmental scientists, and social scientists are collaborating to solve these challenges through water quality analysis and characterization and other innovative approaches.

We are developing a hybrid membrane process technology to address and reduce water and water treatment costs. This technology is particularly useful in targeting hard-to-treat waste waters that cannot be treated with conventional technology as they occur, such as in unconventional oil and gas production. By teaming with industrial and academic partners, we align the latest technologies and methodologies to ensure that we are forerunners in the areas of water treatment and desalination.
