Cynthia Bland, Director of Statistics, has 19 years of experience working on large-scale data collection efforts. Ms. Bland is skilled in sample design and selection, complex weighting, statistical programming, data analysis, and reporting. She enjoys designing and analyzing mode experiments. She is certified in project management and leads multidisciplinary teams to produce high-quality outcomes. Ms. Bland leads a program of 18 statisticians as they innovate for clients and grow in their own careers.

Ms. Bland has country experience in Nigeria and Ghana and maintains frequent contact with clients and vendors. She is adept at explaining complex statistical concepts to lay audiences. Ms. Bland’s research interests, international education, travel surveys, and Medicare satisfaction. Some of her recent research topics in new areas include drones and water quality testing.

Ms. Bland serves as the Secretary for the Caucus of Women in Statistics until 2023 when she becomes the President-Elect. She is the Secretary for the NC Chapter of the American Statistical Association and is a lecturer in statistics for the Kenan-Flagler School of Business at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She enjoys teaching SUDAAN classes on complex modeling. She is a member of the RTI Press Executive Board and serves as an associate editor.

Outside of the statistical world, Ms. Bland serves on the board of the Durham County Women’s Commission, as a national vice president in her sorority, and on the board of a local credit union.
