Chamindu Liyanapatirana is an expert in applied chemistry research and development. His multidisciplinary experience includes analytical characterization and quantitation along with data evaluation, and laboratory management. He supervises the activities of professional, technical, and clerical staff who work on wide range of projects.
Dr. Liyanapatirana is working on developing novel analytical methods for quantification of Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) in biological and environmental samples. He also oversees analytical projects that involve PFAS transformation products identification, quantification and mitigation efficiency determination.
Dr. Liyanapatirana’s analytical chemistry expertise includes:
- Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS)
- Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS)
- Structural elucidation and transformation products identification
Dr. Liyanapatirana joined RTI in 2018. Previously, he led an analytical chemistry team at Buckman Laboratories International. The team performed specialized research on analytical method development and validation, impurity profiling, and degradation products identification and quantification. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, and the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry.
