Philip D. Watson is a Senior Innovation Advisor with the RTI Innovation Advisors. He specializes in commercializing technologies that address social and environmental needs, such as sanitation technologies and low carbon energy technologies.
Watson is currently Program Director of the Sanitation Technology Platform (STeP), funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. STeP, implemented by RTI, provides the Gates Foundation and their partners with support to accelerate the path to market for innovative sanitation technologies. This support spans market intelligence and user insights, field testing of technologies and technology transfer.
Watson has more than fifteen years’ international experience advising a diverse range of clients across the innovation ecosystem, including large firms, new ventures, government agencies and the professional investment community. He has worked and lived in the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Australia and New Zealand.
