John Loft, PhD, is one of RTI’s leading survey scientists, specializing in survey design and methodology. He also works in business development, seeking to diversify RTI’s client base outside of the federal government.
Many of Dr. Loft’s projects involve establishment surveys, especially in the medical field. He is currently leading development of surveys about the patient experience in long-term care hospitals and inpatient rehabilitation facilities. Other projects in Dr. Loft’s portfolio have dealt with medical expenditures, prenatal care, child development, and operational aspects of health care facilities in the United States and abroad. He has co-authored a chapter on surveys of healthcare organizations for a 2014 Handbook of Health Survey Methods.
Dr. Loft has more than 30 years of experience in social science research. He joined RTI in 1998 and managed the opening of RTI’s Chicago office. He has also held research positions at Abt Associates, the American Medical Association, and the National Opinion Research Center. He is a member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research, American Public Health Association, American Statistical Association, and AcademyHealth. He is the 2016 Chairman of AAPOR’s Standards Committee.
