Cindy Throop researches patient-centered health IT tools and provides technical assistance to health care providers interested in consumer engagement within the context of health IT.

She draws on more than 15 years of social science research experience, with extensive data management experience for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. Her research interests include patient engagement in health care and behavioral health information technology.

Ms. Throop managed the work of the Behavioral Health Data Exchange Consortium for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology. The consortium addressed policy and implementation issues for exchanging behavioral health data across organizations and state lines.
