Camille Heaton has nearly 20 years of experience in environmental research related to international and national environmental management. She is currently leading tasks for the Sanitation Technology Platform, which accelerates innovations in sanitation by connecting partners, enabling field testing, and supporting commercialization. She also serves as a senior technical advisor for a 10-year strategic partnership between RTI International and Environment Agency–Abu Dhabi (EAD). She lived and worked in the United Arab Emirates for 6 years as the Deputy Project Director. She manages a team of staff in Abu Dhabi and in the United States that provide technical environmental services to EAD. RTI is working to improve processes in evaluating environmental studies; conducting risk assessment to prioritize inspections; and authoring environmental standards for air and water. She previously led a project in Morocco that provides technical assistance and capacity building on environmental permitting for air, water, and waste issues. Ms. Heaton also led several projects for various offices of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Ms. Heaton’s strong interdisciplinary background in environmental analysis enables her to lead complex technical tasks from creating decision-support systems to supporting international environmental programs. Her experience involves data analysis, environmental policy analysis, and training. She also facilitates stakeholder communications by developing standard operating procedures and technical guidelines based on international best practices. Ms. Heaton provides advice on reviewing complex environmental studies, such as environmental impact assessments for large-scale infrastructure and industrial projects.
