Tamara Terry is an experienced university collaborations leader with strong relationships in North Carolina and nationwide. She sits in RTI’s University Collaboration Office and is responsible for regional engagement with the UNC System and Duke University and leads the RTI University Scholars Program. As a proud North Carolina Central University alumna, she has the privilege of being the inaugural Relationship Manager for RTI’s strategic partnership with the university. Leaning on the success of the NCCU-RTI partnership, she co-directs the strategic framework to partner and engage with several other Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the nation to create mutually beneficial opportunities between the universities and RTI.

Tamara Terry is an expert in survey research data collection, project and program management, people management, and training design and implementation, with over 20 years of experience. She recently worked as a senior research survey scientist in RTI’s Survey, Statistical and Environment Sciences business unit. Ms. Terry has a wide range of experience, including leading and developing research teams, providing development support on research proposals and study design, in addition to managing and providing senior level support on numerous large-scale education, health, and social science research projects.

Ms. Terry also serves on RTI’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Leadership Council and works collaboratively with stakeholders inside and outside of RTI in support of strategic partnerships and initiatives that drive diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. She is a well-respected community influencer and the cofounder of the Research Triangle Park (RTP) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Collective, where she currently serves as the Chairwoman and directs DEI efforts in RTP. Ms. Terry serves on many boards and in the fall of 2020, she was appointed as the inaugural Inclusion and Equity chair for the American Association for Public Opinion Research.
