Matt Brown is a Research Public Health Analyst in RTI International’s Center for Health Analytics, Media, and Policy. Mr. Brown has more than 10 years of experience building processes for extracting, transforming, validating, aggregating, and analyzing data from a variety of health domains. As Rarity's Data Lead, he designed and coded the core algorithm for producing Rarity's underlying data. He has immersed himself in hospital price transparency policy and data and is working on helping RTI win a related CMS contract. Elsewhere at RTI, he has helped build a nation-wide database of primary care practices, performs quality checks for ACO quality measures, owns a portion of the Nielsen tobacco data processing workflow, and is working to aggregate all the available data sets within RTI.

Prior to RTI, Matt Brown was a Senior Population Health Associate at athenahealth where he was heavily involved in quality measure attestation processes for ACOs, combining EHR and claims data for reporting and to unlock more powerful analysis capabilities for the ACOs he served. At MediTech, Matt Brown built and optimized quality measures on top of MediTech EHR software to help hospitals demonstrate compliance with ARRA legislation.
