James Rogers is the Director of the Data Processing Program in the Education and Workforce Development division at RTI. He leads a team of managers and programmers specializing in data processing tasks. His team is responsible for developing procedures that support the survey life cycle, including data collection reports, coding systems, cleaning and editing programs, analysis variables, and restricted-use/public-use data products.
Mr. Rogers works on projects that range from small analytic studies to large mixed-mode national longitudinal studies. Among them is the Middle Grades Longitudinal Study, which examines the changes students go through in grades six through eight. He is a skilled SAS programmer and has contributed to publications on education topics, including “Understanding Student Self-Reports of Academic Performance and Course-taking Behavior.”
Before joining RTI in 2000, Mr. Rogers was a research programmer analyst at the National Opinion Research Center, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the University of Chicago. His background also includes consulting experience at Accenture (formerly Andersen Consulting), developing systems for large private-sector companies.
