Ian Maycumber is a water resources engineer whose work focuses on leveraging environmental data, models, and systems to improve decision-making for global water challenges. He has broad experience supporting domestic and international clients in hydraulic and hydrologic model development, hydrologic forecasting systems, forensic hydrology, and hydro-meteorological network design.
Recently, Mr. Maycumber co-led the development of a product which leverages classical hydrologic modeling techniques and a Recurrent Neural Network to forecast inflows at strategic locations of the Columbia River Basin valued by utilities and energy traders for hydropower production. His international work has primarily focused on the design of hydro-meteorological monitoring networks including a regional network for the Nile River Basin to improve transboundary water management.
Mr. Maycumber joined RTI in 2016 with the acquisition of the water resources division of Riverside Technology. Prior to joining Riverside in 2009, he served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in the Philippines, researching household bio-sand water filter projects and implementing community water systems. He is a licensed professional engineer and member of Engineers Without Borders and the American Society of Civil Engineers.
