Claudia T. Valenzuela currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Party of the Basic Education Quality and Transitions Activity in Guatemala, funded by USAID and implemented by RTI. She works directly with local partners and the Ministry of Education to support the strengthening of education and evaluation systems so that students can successfully transition from elementary to middle school in Guatemala’s Western Highlands.

Ms. Valenzuela’s professional experience spans over 20 years in social and economic development programs and international development in Central America. Prior to RTI, she applied her skills in management, project design and implementation, leadership of multi-faceted teams, and public administration at organizations such as Superintendencia de Administración Tributaria, World Bank, and the Universidad del Valle in Guatemala. She received the Inter-American Development Bank's Social Innovation Award in 2021 for developing alternative education tools to accelerate STEM learning.

Ms. Valenzuela is a native Spanish speaker, has full professional proficiency in English, and working proficiency in Italian.
