Alex Twahirwa is an international development professional with over 15 years’ experience in project coordination and management, socio-economic policy design and analysis, gender and women development, public sector investment and finance management. He currently is a senior technical advisor on the Feed the Future Hanga Akazi (Create Jobs) activity, a project supporting the growth of Rwanda’s knowledge-based economy by increasing inclusive employment and entrepreneurship opportunities across the food system.
Previously, he served as a Regional Program Manager, supporting the coordination, oversight, and implementation of Women in Rwandan Energy (WIRE) and Women in Energy Tanzania (WIET) aimed at enhancing women and girls’ participation in the energy sector in Rwanda and Tanzania.
Prior to joining RTI in 2021 he served as Advisor to the Minister in Rwanda’s Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF), providing technical and strategic advice to the Ministry on research, monitoring and implementation of gender and family sector policies, programs, laws, and regulations, among other duties. As Coordinator of the Single Project Implementation Unit (MIGEPROF), Mr. Twahirwa oversaw the day-to-day technical, organizational, and financial management of all development projects of the Ministry.
Mr. Twahirwa is a Certified Project Management Professional and is fluent in English and Kinyarwanda.
