Nathaniel Taylor is a research public health analyst at RTI where he leads multidisciplinary teams across the institute. Mr. Taylor has a background in quantitative data analysis and experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis. He designs and implements large, longitudinal studies using multi-modal data collections and mixed methods research designs, including experimental design. 

Mr. Taylor has led large, multi-year, longitudinal evaluations at RTI, including the evaluation of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s The Real Cost – Smokeless campaign. Recently, he evaluated the North Carolina Department of Public Safety’s Secure All Firearms Effectively (NC S.A.F.E) initiative. This project encouraged NC adult gun owners to store their firearms safely to reduce firearm-related injuries among children and firearm theft. He currently serves in a supporting role as associate project director of the evaluation of FDA’s The Real Cost and associate project director of the evaluation of the Colorado Department of Public Safety and Environment’s Let’s Talk Guns, Colorado. 

Prior to joining RTI in 2015, Mr. Taylor worked as a research analyst in the Economic Evaluation Research Group at the University of Georgia where he contributed to the design and implementation of economic evaluations of public health programs. Mr. Taylor is also a former program manager at RTI and an Army combat veteran, having served in the expeditionary force in Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

In addition to his work, Mr. Taylor holds several professional membership affiliations, including at the National Association for Doctors of Public Health, Delta Omega Honorary Society of Public Health, Georgia Public Health Association, and Society for the Advancement of Violence and Injury Research. He is certified in public health from the National Board of Public Health Examiners. He also has a certification as a health education specialist from the National Commission of Health Education Credentialing.
