RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – RTI International has been recognized by the United Way of North Carolina with the United Way Spirit of North Carolina Award for Campaign Excellence.
The award, given in recognition of RTI’s support of the 2012 United Way Campaign, provides statewide acknowledgment of outstanding commitment to communities through local United Way involvement. This is the third consecutive year that RTI received the honor.
Organizations and companies were judged on a variety of criteria outlined in the Spirit of North Carolina Standards of Excellence, including leadership giving, volunteerism, employee participation and giving levels, year-round education, corporate support, incentive programs, and campaign rallies. RTI received the award in the non-profit category.
Approximately 40 percent of RTI staff members participated in the 2012 campaign, which raised $343,725 for local United Ways' "Give United" fund to help solve complex problems in local communities.
“Year after year, this campaign continues to be a tremendous success. That would not be possible without the significant efforts of our campaign leadership team and volunteers and the generosity of our employees,” said Jim Gibson, RTI’s chief operating officer and chairman of RTI’s campaign.
In the Triangle area, United Way recently announced that it allotted $5,330,000 in 2013 to help partner agencies in their efforts to expand and improve education, health and financial stability programs – with a specific focus on affordable permanent housing, financial management, sustaining employment and income supports, food and other basic needs, and access to health care.
RTI's year-round involvement with United Way continues with participation in affinity groups and volunteer opportunities.
