Jamie Jones named Triangle Business Journal 40 under 40 Leadership Awards winner

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC— The Triangle Business Journal recognized Jamie Jones, Ph.D., an Innovation Advisor at RTI International, as  a 2016 40 under 40 Leadership Awards winner.

Chosen from among nearly 250 nominations, Jones was recently honored at an awards luncheon recognizing 40 young professionals for contributions to their organizations and to the community. Winners were also profiled in a special section of the publication.

“These winners reflect the entrepreneurial spirit and the economic prowess of the diverse community in which we live and work,” said TBJ Publisher Jason Christie. “The Triangle is a better place because of the efforts of these honorees. I’m proud to know that the future of this area is in such good hands.”

Jones leads the market intelligence and business planning efforts for RTI’s Sanitation Technology Platform team. She has an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, a doctorate in chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin, and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Tennessee.

Before joining RTI, Jones was a clinical professor at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University where she worked with students on projects in India, Africa and Latin America in agriculture, education, health, water quality and other areas. She was also a co-founder of Impact Engine—a startup accelerator and seed fund that supports and funds ventures that create both financial and social returns.

As an  innovation adviser at RTI, she helps establish the market intelligence approach to support commercialization of the Gates Foundation’s reinvented toilets in India and is part of the team that field- tested the first of these systems.

“I’m excited about the future and finding new sectors where cross-RTI capabilities can be leveraged to deploy transformative innovations and technologies that can change the world,” Jones said.
