Lisa Lines appointed to Medical Care editorial board

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC— Lisa Lines, Ph.D., health services researcher at RTI International, has been appointed to serve on the Medical Care editorial board and as co-editor of the Medical Care blog.

The Medical Care blog, currently published weekly, aims to help readers understand and connect with research published in the Medical Care journal. Medical Care is the official journal of the Medical Care section of the American Public Health Association (APHA).

"It's an honor to serve on the board of one of the top-ranked journals in healthcare administration," Lines said. "Medical Care is well-known for publishing methodologically sound research on all aspects of the administration and delivery of health care. The main goal of the blog is to improve the flow of information and ideas among researchers and other stakeholders."

In 2014, Lines helped re-launch the Medical Care blog as co-editor with Jessica Williams, Ph.D., a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health & Society Scholar at the Harvard Center for Population Development Studies at the Harvard School of Public Health.

The section encourages research, analysis and policy development on organization, financing and delivery of medical care.

At RTI, Lines' research focuses on healthcare quality, costs and access. She recently co-authored an article published by RTI Press that reviews the published literature on racial and ethnic disparities among individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias in the United States.

Lines has been a member of APHA since 2006, and currently holds several leadership positions in the Medical Care section, including section counselor, chair of the membership and communication committees, and web editor.

Lines holds a doctorate in clinical and population health research from the University of Massachusetts Medical School, a master's in public health from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and a bachelor's degree in scientific communication from Northeastern University.
