Steve McManus is a member of our Innovation Advisors team with a background in engineering and technology commercialization. He advises manufacturing clients, including large companies and small & medium-size manufacturers (through RTI's relationship with the NIST Manufacturing Extension Partnership or NIST MEP), with a focus on Insights services (technology scouting and technology-driven market intelligence or TDMI).

Recently, Mr. McManus supported our contract with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to implement technology scouting and TDMI services in the MEP National Network. He conducted training and managed over 100 projects for small manufacturer clients in 30 states. He continues to lead business with the Network while also leading business development for the Innovation Advisors’ Fortune clients in the materials and chemicals sectors.

Before joining RTI Innovation Advisors in 2012, Mr. McManus commercialized new material technologies with Lord Corporation (magnetorheological fluids) and BP Amoco Fabrics and Fibers (Curv 100% polypropylene composite material). He also served as General Manager for CS Medical, a small company that manufacturers medical disinfection devices and products. He is an ISO 13485 Auditor and has an inactive certification as a Professional Engineer.

In 2014, he gave a presentation on the Collaborative Communities Manufacturing Growth Initiative (CCMGI) For The North Central Massachusetts Region at the MassMEP Stakeholders Meeting. His notable publications include Evaluation of vibration and shock attenuation performance of a suspension seat with a semi-active magnetorheological fluid damper.
