Rebecca Shute supports the National Institute of Justice’s (NIJ) Forensic Technology Center of Excellence and the Criminal Justice Testing and Evaluation Consortium. As an Innovation Advisor, Ms. Shute leads the development of market-driven landscape studies and other reports that help criminal justice stakeholders make decisions on the implementation of emerging technologies. She has driven the creation of dozens of public-facing reports that address criminal justice topics, including driving under the influence of drugs, field-portable technologies, data management software, and the forensic innovation ecosystem. Rebecca also helps NIJ-funded researchers transition their research into practice.
Ms. Shute has supported the development of an in-depth user applications study for NASA’s Earth Science Division to assess the potential value of earth observation data across the private sector. Through extensive market research informed by user-centered design principles, she helped develop insights that will ultimately drive NASA’s earth observation data products towards greater impact.
