Murrey G. Olmsted is a Director of Applied Social Sciences, a senior methodologist and research psychologist with a broad set of interests focused on research design, survey methodology, measurement, evaluation and applied multivariate statistics. He primarily works in content areas related to surveys, health care quality and services, behavioral health, health assessment, and federal statistical surveys.
Dr. Olmsted leads several key projects at RTI including the Best Hospitals and Best Children’s Hospitals rankings projects for U.S. News & World Report, and the Continuing Certification Evaluation for the American Board of Pediatrics. He has also led methodology projects, exploring ways to optimize Web-based data collection and management systems, including surveys, health registries, personal health records, and health interventions. Dr. Olmsted frequently serves as a methodological advisor to survey, program evaluation, and field trial projects.
Dr. Olmsted serves as a program manager in RTI’s Program for Research in Survey Methodology (PRISM) where he manages a multidisciplinary team of methodologists. He serves as a reviewer for the RTI Institutional Review Board and is a member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research and the American Psychological Association.
