Marisa Morrison is a Research Public Health Analyst and Program Manager in the Health Coverage for Low-Income and Uninsured Population program. Her principal interests include access to health insurance and health care, health care delivery and payment reforms, Medicaid, and Medicare.

Dr. Morrison has helped lead the quantitative analyses of multiple evaluations that assessed the impacts of complex health care payment and delivery reforms on access to care, equity, quality of care, spending, and health care use on Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries. Dr. Morrison joined RTI International in 2015. Prior to joining RTI, she worked for the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Brookings Institution, a think tank in Washington, DC.

Get To Know Marisa Morrison

Dr. Morrison discussed the significance of federal Medicaid data in comprehending maternal health care disparities and addressing inequalities effectively.

Because more than 40% of all births are covered by Medicaid, federal Medicaid data represents a rich source of information for understanding disparities in maternal health care. It’s exciting to work at an organization like RTI with the expertise to use federal Medicaid data to answer key questions about maternal health in the U.S. Providing policymakers with accurate information is the first step towards addressing maternal health disparities.
