John V. McCarthy is a senior software developer in the Center for Data Science with expertise in .NET-based solutions, technology leadership, and developing complex data pipelines and processes. He specializes in developing desktop, web- and cloud-based solutions for public-sector programs, contributing to projects focused on critical needs such as hurricane mitigation, food safety, and juvenile justice. He has also served as a data coordinating center informatics lead and technical advisor on several NIH-funded projects, including the HEALing Communities Study, which aims to reduce opioid overdose fatalities.
Mr. McCarthy came to RTI in 2018 as a research programmer and joined the Center for Data Science in 2022. Before joining RTI, Mr. McCarthy co-founded and served as principal consultant at Kikoda, where he worked with clients to address real-world problems through full-stack development of new and existing applications. He also has experience as a team lead, data architect, and senior engineer in the accounting, legal, and insurance industries.
