RTI International Promotes Ginger Rothrock to Vice President of Technology and Commercialization

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC—October 30, 2018—Dr. Ginger Rothrock, Ph.D., Senior Director of Commercialization and Intrapreneurship at RTI International has been promoted to Vice President of Technology and Commercialization for the Institute. In this role, she will lead RTI researchers and senior staff to bring RTI technologies to commercial sectors, with the greatest impact on the industries they will support.

Dr. Rothrock vets RTI technologies for commercial impact and has led multi-million-dollar research efforts in emerging materials fields to develop new products and capabilities for RTI’s corporate partners. She is currently co-leading the development of a medical implant and the evaluation of two global biomedical accelerators

“Dr. Rothrock possesses in-depth technical expertise and strategic business insight,” said RTI President and CEO E. Wayne Holden, Ph.D. “We look forward to her leadership in positioning RTI as a frontrunner in the areas of advanced materials, digitalization and manufacturing for commercial sectors like sustainable energy production, and biomedical devices.” 

As leader of RTI’s commercialization portfolio, Dr. Rothrock led the recent spin-out of SWIR Vision Systems, Inc., offering breakthrough infrared camera technology for applications in the industrial machine vision, security systems, and other global imaging markets.

“I’m excited to apply my expertise in commercialization to our ongoing research and development programs to position RTI, our scientists and engineers for increased and sustainable success,” said Dr. Rothrock. “I’m looking forward to supporting thoughtful and innovative projects that will lead to growth.”

Dr. Rothrock holds a Ph.D. in polymer and analytical chemistry from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and a B.S. in Chemistry from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. She is an inventor and holds 32 patents and patent applications. Dr. Rothrock serves on the board of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development and Triangle Women in STEM.
