RTI and staff donate $158,500 to support relief efforts in Ukraine

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — RTI International, a nonprofit research institute, today announced it has donated $50,000 to support the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) humanitarian assistance work in Ukraine and will match up to an additional $25,000 in staff member donations. As of Friday, March 25, more than 400 staff members had raised $58,500 for UNHCR, more than twice the amount to be matched, making the grand total to be donated to UNHCR $133,500.

In addition, to support the shipment of medical equipment and supplies to meet Ukraine’s needs, RTI donated $25,000 to longtime partner Project C.U.R.E.

“We are grateful for staff’s generous contributions to provide relief efforts in response to the Russian military force’s invasion into Ukraine,” said RTI president and CEO Tim J. Gabel. “The violent, unwarranted aggression has caused civilian death and internal displacement for the Ukrainian people, and we hope our combined contributions will help the country and its citizens during this extremely difficult time.”

The UNHCR is continuing to meet urgent basic needs in Ukraine, including providing shelter, core relief kits, cash assistance and protection to the most vulnerable through legal assistance, mental health and psychosocial support. For a recent update, see this summary of what was said by Karolina Lindholm Billing, UNHCR’s representative to Ukraine, in Lviv at a March 25 press briefing at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

Project C.U.R.E. has an extensive history of working with Ukraine, having sent C.U.R.E. Cargo shipments to Ukrainian facilities throughout the country since 2000.
