Lisa May Honored With Triangle Business Journal’s 2019 “C-Suite Award”

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — The Triangle Business Journal recently honored Executive Vice President Lisa May as an outstanding C-level executive for her contributions to the Triangle community.

During the third annual C-Suite Awards luncheon, 15 local executives were recognized for their business success. The 2019 class included individuals from a variety of industries, including technology, life sciences, finance and commercial real estate.

“This year’s class of C-suite winners is impressive,” said Jason Christie, publisher of Triangle Business Journal. “They represent the best of the best in corporate leadership in The Triangle. We’re proud of what they’ve accomplished, and they have set the bar for others to follow.”

May has more than 25 years of experience in strategic human resource management, with demonstrated expertise in talent acquisition, leadership development, executive coaching and organizational design. Since joining RTI in 2015, she has worked with her colleagues to deliver HR programs that reinforce RTI’s leadership culture and values, initiated a new development-oriented performance management philosophy, introduced enhanced career development opportunities, broadened RTI’s Diversity & Inclusion efforts, and championed the implementation of enhanced benefits that include paid parental leave.

TBJ’s 2019 class C-Suite Awards winners were celebrated during a luncheon at Cary’s Prestonwood Country Club.

In accepting the award, May shared what she called the best advice she has ever received: “Never be afraid, as a leader, to surround yourself with people who are better than you are. It will be humbling, but in the end, you will be a stronger leader for it."

A profile of each winner was published in the Aug. 23 edition of Triangle Business Journal.
