RTI named to USA TODAY America’s Climate Leaders 2026 list

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.— RTI International, an independent scientific research institute, has been named to USA TODAY’s America’s Climate Leaders 2026 list, recognizing U.S. organizations that are making measurable progress in reducing their environmental impact.

The list, announced April 22 and published on usatoday.com, is compiled by USA TODAY in partnership with Statista, an independent data and rankings firm. It highlights organizations that have reduced their greenhouse gas emissions relative to their size and operations over time, based on standardized analysis.

“We’re proud to receive this award; it affirms the work we’re doing to reduce our emissions,” said Harold Hicks, vice president, global real estate at RTI. “RTI’s work is characterized by scientific rigor, including the extensive research and development our staff perform in developing energy solutions and other technologies with our clients. We leverage this expertise and strive to live up to this high bar in managing our campus operations.”

To be considered, organizations had to be headquartered in the U.S., generate at least $50 million in annual revenue, and publicly share verified emissions data over multiple years. Statista then analyzed how each organization’s emissions changed year over year, focusing on improvement rather than overall size or industry.

RTI’s inclusion places it among a group of U.S.-based organizations recognized for measurable progress in reducing emissions, based on independently reported data and third‑party analysis.

Statista produces hundreds of annual rankings in collaboration with major media organizations worldwide, using consistent research methods and publicly available data.
