This presentation shared findings from the development and use of the self-administered EGRA/EGMA. With initial funding from the Jacobs Foundation, Imagine Worldwide partnered with RTI International to create such an assessment. The SA-EGRA/EGMA is administered on offline tablets through Tangerine®. Wearing headphones, children respond to audio and visual prompts, recorded by local voice artists, and tap their responses on the screen, advancing through all the subtasks at their own pace. The assessments are developed through a multi-step process that includes content adaptation by local literacy and numeracy experts, user testing, field testing followed by psychometric analysis and revisions, and then a thorough pilot test to measure test-retest reliability and concurrent validity. The assessments are providing valid and reliable measures of literacy and numeracy skills in the early grades at reduced time and cost.
RTI also presented PawPaw, its new AI-Enabled Oral Reading Assessment and Result Guidance.
