OBJECTIVES: We assessed awareness and use of Opill, the first over-the-counter oral contraceptive pill, and identified correlates of awareness among Latine young adults in an agricultural setting in California.
STUDY DESIGN: Two annual visits from a prospective cohort study; A Crecer: Salinas Teen Health Study 2023-2025 (n=344).
RESULTS: Awareness increased from 11% to 19%; only four participants (1%) accessed Opill. Females and participants with favorable birth control attitudes, recent sexual and reproductive health service use, and more of their information about sexual health coming from doctors had greater awareness.
CONCLUSIONS: Access expansion should be paired with targeted communication strategies.
