Focus Areas

Global Food Security, Agriculture, and Nutrition

Enhancing food security, strengthening resilience, and alleviating poverty

Supporting global food systems to improve food security and spur sustainable economic growth is one of RTI’s core areas of expertise. We work with and through local partners to empower all market actors, facilitate access to markets and finance, reduce undernutrition, and strengthen resilience to shocks and stresses.

Specializing in project management, private sector engagement, capacity building, policy and political economy analysis, innovation and strategic analytics, and monitoring, evaluation, research, learning, and adapting (MERLA), we are helping partner countries catalyze agriculture-led economic growth. Working with all actors throughout the market system, from farmers to government officials, our work helps create job opportunities, increase incomes, and promote inclusive access to safe, nutritious food.

Global Food Security Affected by COVID Pandemic

COVID-19-related losses in income, disruptions to food supply chains, and reductions in remittances are negatively affecting food security through decreased production, reduced trade, higher food prices, and increased poverty. RTI is responding by helping farmers and small agribusinesses safely operate within the pandemic, working with financial institutions to increase access to finance for small and medium enterprises, and providing data and analysis to governments to inform decision-making and actions to reduce the impacts of the pandemic.
