Steven Cohen named vice president of RTI International’s Division for Statistical and Data Sciences

WASHINGTON— Steven Cohen, Ph.D., has joined RTI International as vice president of the Division for Statistical and Data Sciences. He is the former director of the Center for Financing, Access and Cost Trends in the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

"Steven will work to further crystallize the division's vision for long-term growth," said Craig Hill, Ph.D., RTI's unit vice president for Survey, Computing and Statistical Sciences. "He will be responsible for further advancing RTI's scientific reputation as a major contributor to research in statistical methodology and data science, as well as enhancing internal and external collaborations."

With strong leadership experience in health-related studies and survey administration, Cohen will bring a new level of expertise and collaboration to the division.

"I am enthused to be taking on new challenges and responsibilities at RTI," Cohen said. "In my new role, I plan to build on the institute's already solid reputation in statistics and data science—including programs in health, education, international, social and behavioral statistics, and data analytics."

Cohen has a doctorate in biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition, he has authored more than 150 journal articles and publications, and is an American Statistical Association Fellow.
