RTI International Community Partnerships Program receives award for strong stakeholder, employee engagement

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC— RTI International’s Community Partnerships Program has received top honors in the Ragan Communications PR Daily Corporate Social Responsibility Awards.

The program took first place in the category of “Best Stakeholder/Employee Engagement.” The category recognizes excellence in engaging employees and stakeholders in an organization’s corporate social responsibility campaign or program.

The RTI Community Partnerships Program was created in 2004 as a way for RTI to contribute to the communities served by its offices, as part of its mission to improve the human condition. The process – governed by an annual budget and a board composed of staff members from across RTI who ensure consistent giving criteria – seeks staff recommendations annually for worthy recipient organizations.

“We are pleased that this exceptional program has been recognized with this honor,” said Jim Gibson, chief operating officer at RTI. “The program is successful because of the high level of involvement of staff – from setting the criteria and recommending a giving schedule, to volunteering time to make a difference in the communities where they live.”

PR Daily called out the key criterion requiring staff to volunteer for the charity a minimum of 12 hours per year as the characteristic setting it apart from other organizations in the area of employee and stakeholder engagement.

Additional employee engagement strategies noted include RTI’s intranet, digital signage, posters and social media. Also, the program sponsors volunteer events such as Stop Hunger Now, as well as staff participation in charity walks and races across RTI office locations.

The nominating staff member often presents the donation to the organization in person, sparking new opportunities to partner.
