Robin Weinick to head RTI International’s Health Services and Social Policy Research Division

WASHINGTON – RTI International named Robin Weinick, Ph.D., as vice president of the Division for Health Services and Social Policy Research.

In her new role, Weinick will lead a successful division that has been growing rapidly, especially with projects supporting and evaluating the Affordable Care Act.

"Robin is a highly skilled senior leader with an impressive background in health services research in both the non-profit and government sectors," said Jan Mitchell, Ph.D., unit vice president of RTI's Social Policy, Health, and Economics Research (SPHERE). "Her formidable ongoing body of work reflects RTI's values and vision and fuses well with the mission and goals of the institute. We're thrilled to have her as a part of our team."

Weinick has more than 20 years of experience leading multiple large teams, delivering on complex projects, growing organizations and engaging in both academic and client-facing research. She has steered large, well-funded endeavors, including as project director on multimillion-dollar government contracts.  Her recent projects included a large-scale study of patient experiences in emergency departments, evaluations of new models of care delivery, and the development and implementation of patient experience of care surveys for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

Before joining RTI, Weinick was a senior social scientist and associate director of RAND Health, in Arlington, Virginia. Prior to RAND, she served as a senior scientist at the Institute for Health Policy at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and as a senior advisor at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service's Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

Weinick has published more than 45 journal articles, and presented more than 100 times. She serves on the editorial board or reviews articles for more than 20 peer-reviewed publications, many of which she has been a part of for more than a decade.

Weinick holds a bachelor's degree in health and society from the University of Rochester, and a doctorate in population dynamics from Johns Hopkins University.
