Prakash Doraiswamy appointed to Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association editorial review board

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Prakash Doraiswamy, Ph.D., a research environmental scientist at RTI International, has been appointed to serve on the editorial review board of the Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association.

The Journal of the Air & Waste Management Association (JA&WMA) is the oldest continuously published peer-reviewed technical environmental journal. The journal informs the Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) membership and other practitioners involved in air pollution control and waste management about advances in air quality and waste management science and technology to improve environmental protection.

During his three-year term, he will help prepare editorials, recruit authors, and establish an overall editorial policy for the journal. The editorial board advises the technical editor-in-chief and editorial staff, and recommends material to the publication committee.

Doraiswamy has more than 10 years of experience in air quality, including the application and evaluation of regional photochemical air quality models and diagnostic data analysis to particle and gaseous measurements. At RTI, his research involves measuring and modeling air quality to solve problems related to the environment and human health.

Prior to RTI, he served at the State University of New York at Albany and the Desert Research Institute, where his experience included air quality modeling, thermal organic carbon and elemental carbon analyses and diagnostic data analysis. Doraiswamy has also managed projects for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, including a project that examined air quality inside diesel truck cabins.

The JA&WMA is a publication of A&WMA, a nonprofit, nonpartisan professional organization that enhances knowledge and expertise by providing a forum for information exchange, professional development, public education and outreach to environmental professionals worldwide. R.K.M. Jayanty, Ph.D., senior fellow at RTI, also serves on the editorial review board of the JA&WMA.

Doraiswamy holds a doctorate degree in civil engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a master's degree in civil engineering from Tennessee Technological University, and a bachelor of technology in chemical engineering from Anna University in India.
