Kimberly O’Malley to keynote education conference in China

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC—On November 5, Kimberly O’Malley, Ph.D., Senior Vice President at RTI International, will deliver the keynote address at the Dalian Biyouxe Education Network conference.

As a nationally recognized expert in improving education, O’Malley will discuss the importance of teaching 21st century skills—critical thinking, leadership and creativity—during primary and secondary education. She will also describe how technology, teaching methods and policies impact how these skills are assessed.

“The skills our students need to compete globally are changing in a digital-first world,” said O’Malley. “Equipping our students with those skills that will make them ready and successful for future careers will prepare them to enter this changing global landscape.”

The conference aims to help education leaders in China assess how well students are prepared for higher education and careers in today’s expanding market. This knowledge sharing is part of China’s educational reform efforts.

“China is a leader in defining and teaching 21st century skills, such as digital literacy, problem solving and collaboration. I am looking forward to learning more about their policies and programs, and discussing ways to design school systems to promote career-ready students,” said O’Malley.

O’Malley has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and has delivered more than 300 industry presentations and keynotes. O’Malley has also advised ministries of education in countries such as Brazil, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, and United Arab Emirates.
