RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — Isaiah Ndong, M.D., joined RTI International as the senior director for Africa programs for RTI's Global Health Group.
Ndong brings with him more than 30 years of experience as a clinician and health program developer with expertise in building and managing partnerships with local, national and regional institutions and organizations. He has developed and implemented practical, low-cost programs in several African countries to promote and support family planning, reproductive health, STI/HIV prevention, malaria and child survival.
In his new role at RTI, Ndong will provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the Global Health Group's Africa portfolio including management, technical development, program implementation, personnel and financial oversight.
Ndong comes to RTI from EngenderHealth, where he was vice president for programs. During his 16-year tenure at EngenderHealth, Ndong was responsible for establishing program priorities and implementing strategies for growth and development. He also led development of the EngenderHealth supply-enabling environment-demand (SEED) holistic programming model.
Prior to working at EngenderHealth, Ndong worked for the Ministry of Health in Cameroon where he planned, coordinated and supervised clinical activities in multiple hospitals and health systems.
Ndong earned a medical degree and diploma in biochemistry from the University of Yaounde in Cameroon and a master's degree in public health from the University of Washington.
