Glossary Term

Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT)

A randomized controlled trial is a study design in which participants are randomly assigned to a treatment group or a control group. Random assignment reduces bias and allows researchers to determine the causal effect of an intervention. RTI uses RCTs to evaluate interventions in fields such as public health, education, and international development where reliable causal evidence is needed.
