Mike Martin is an educational consultant supporting strategic planning and consultation for projects in K-12 and higher education. Prior to joining RTI, he was the associate director of program and policy at The Hunt Institute, where he wrote for policymakers and practitioners and supported states in raising standards and designing assessment and accountability systems. Mr. Martin also spent six years in the policy and planning division of the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, where he worked closely with the academic services and communications departments to implement large-scale educational improvements across North Carolina.

Mr. Martin spent the first five years of his career teaching high-school mathematics, and then transitioned into teacher coaching, educational leadership and curriculum design. His professional interests include teacher and leader effectiveness, instructional design, and policy implementation and communication across educational sectors.
