Kira Bradford is a scientific computing principal investigator and scientific and technical lead. With a background in team science and over 8 years of experience as a scientific and technical communicator and presenter, Dr. Bradford provides expert engagement with researchers to inform software development.

Dr. Bradford has been a principal investigator of multiple multi-site projects funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) over the past four years. Currently, she is a co-principal investigator and collaborator with the NIH HEAL Data Stewardship Group. The NIH HEAL initiative is an ambitious trans-agency effort to address the opioid and pain management health crisis. As a HEAL Steward, Dr. Bradford helps support collaborations among the broad community of researchers, healthcare providers, community leaders, policy makers, and other HEAL allies who can benefit from learning the results of the initiative’s research. She also leads the data strategy initiative to inform the approach for data management and sharing within the HEAL program and helps provide insights to make HEAL data findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable (FAIR) by developing best practices, tools, and resources for investigators generating HEAL data.

Previously, she was a senior technical and research scientist at the Renaissance Computing Institute (RENCI) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
