Kami Spangenberg

Kami Spangenberg is vice president for Corporate Communications and Community Affairs for RTI International, the largest scientific research institute in the Southeast. In this Corporate Affairs role, she is responsible for strategic communications planning and program implementation, delivery of research information and publishing services, and community affairs spanning charitable giving and outreach.

With considerable experience in brand and reputation, Kami is an expert in crisis communications and complex issues management. Prior to RTI, she worked as a change communications consultant in the energy sector, a communications principal in pharmaceutical and supply chain consulting practices, and as both a corporate communications director and a global marketing director in the telecommunications field. She has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Clemson University, both in English.

The daughter of a U.S. Marine and career firefighter/paramedic, Kami is passionate about Veterans issues and support for first responders. She serves on the Board of the Greater Triangle Area Chapter of the American Red Cross.
