Ms. Donna B. Browning, Manager of RTI International’s Materials Handling Facility (MHF) in the Center for Analytical Sciences has more than 29 years of experience as the Manager of dose formulation laboratories. Her broad experience includes supervision of hazardous materials processing, dosage formulation, and distribution of bulk compounds for toxicology and chemistry studies for the National Toxicology Program (NTP). Inventory responsibilities also include maintaining the NTP chemical repository and archives. Ms. Browning has supervised staff members in test article receipt, storage, and handling and in achieving and maintaining compliance with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA’s) Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). She ships hazardous materials in compliance with regulations from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). Ms. Browning has also served as a Project Manager on several commercial chemical repository and formulation contracts. She is also the Project Manager for several American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) proficiency testing programs. Ms. Browning also serves as the Center’s Operations Manager and is responsible for maintaining the Center’s training program and compliance, the inventory of capital equipment, facility and space planning, safety training and audits, and corporate-wide initiatives such as business continuity planning.  Ms. Browning is also authorized in this capacity as one of few staff to purchase and/or receive controlled substances in compliance with DEA regulations for projects at RTI.  Before joining RTI, she worked for 16 years in managing dose formulation laboratories for Battelle Memorial Institute. Her previous experience also included working as a Chemist at the Carolina Biological Supply Company and as a Research Assistant at Burroughs Wellcome Company.
