Darryl Cooney is a research statistician in RTI’s Educational Statistics Team and has more than 15 years of experience leading statistical analyses, designing surveys, monitoring data collection, and conducting data management, including 7 years of experience with project management. He is an expert in running complex projects, managing teams, and mentoring staff. Mr. Cooney conducts a variety of work on education and health studies and surveys. He has served as the lead statistician or statistical advisor on more than 20 survey and population projects. Currently, he serves as the lead statistician for the 2012/2017 Beginning Postsecondary Students Longitudinal Study and as the sampling and weighting lead for the Sampling Partner to the TIMSS & PIRLS International Study Center.

Mr. Cooney regularly contributes to scientific stature through submissions to peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Urban Health, Pediatric Allergy, Immunology, and Pulmonology, and the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, as well as through presentations at conferences such as the Joint Statistical Meeting and the American Association for Public Opinion Research.
