Bucky Fairfax is RTI’s Chief Human Resources Officer, providing executive leadership for HR operations, HR business partnering, strategic talent management, and corporate communications for RTI’s global workforce. Dr. Fairfax combines more than 20 years of progressive leadership in human resources with a research background in the role of fit with purpose in driving employee motivation.

Before becoming CHRO, Dr. Fairfax served as RTI’s Senior Vice President, Strategic Talent Management, for more than six years. In this role, he oversaw RTI’s efforts related to talent management and acquisition, learning and development, employee branding and experience, succession planning, and talent research and analytics. He was instrumental in creating and implementing RTI’s initial Diversity & Inclusion strategy and planning efforts in advance of our current Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging initiative.

Dr. Fairfax came to RTI in 2006 and has spent his career in the global nonprofit sector, serving in HR leadership positions at Conservation International and ChildFund International. He completed the Advanced Human Resources Executive Program at Michigan University in 2013. He serves on an advisory committee for the Executive Doctorate in Business Diversity Council at Temple University’s Fox School of Business.

Along with his dissertation, he has also authored several articles on the role of purpose in employee motivation and satisfaction.
