Barbara Kroner, PhD, is an established epidemiologist and clinical coordinating center principal investigator, with expertise in study design, patient recruitment and data collection methods. Dr. Kroner has been with RTI since 1983, where she has managed complex multicenter national and international studies of viral and chronic disease.
She has directed studies of HIV/AIDS, HCV and end-stage liver disease, hemophilia, aortic aneurysms and dissections in persons with Marfan and related syndromes, and childhood onset epilepsy. She is also collaborating on the development of a mobile seizure alert device based on autonomic signals.
Dr. Kroner has considerable knowledge regarding the practical techniques of biospecimen collection, processing, handling, and testing as components for epidemiologic studies. Her other research interests include Aicardi syndrome and the growth and development of children with disabilities.
