Connect

Ashley Griggs is a survey methodologist with more than 15 years of experience designing and implementing complex social science and public health research studies. Since joining RTI International in 2010, she has specialized in questionnaire design, survey methodology, respondent engagement, and data collection strategies for large-scale studies involving individuals, households, establishments, and longitudinal cohorts. She currently serves as a Research Survey Methodologist within RTI’s Survey Research and Surveillance program. 

Ms. Griggs leads instrument development for highly complex, mixed-mode surveys, including longitudinal and youth-focused studies. Her expertise spans cognitive interviewing, usability testing, questionnaire refinement, and the design of respondent-facing portals and materials that promote participation and improve data quality. She also develops contact strategies and engagement approaches tailored to diverse respondent groups and challenging study environments. In addition, Ms. Griggs applies visual design principles to the development of paper questionnaires, balancing clarity, usability, intuitive navigation, and consistency across languages and modes of administration.

Her current projects include the World Trade Center Health Registry, Add Health Parent Study, Add Health Wave VI, Law Enforcement Core Statistics (LECS) Program, Annual Surveys of Probation and Parole, and the Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS) Household Survey and Energy Supplier Survey (ESS).

Ms. Griggs is an active member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) and serves as chair of AAPOR’s Data & Analysis Subcommittee through 2026.
