Akhil Vaish serves as a senior director and research statistician within the Division for Statistical and Data Sciences. He is an expert in small area estimation methodology, Bayesian analysis, development and automation of complex statistical procedures and systems, hierarchical/multilevel modeling, and multivariate statistical analysis techniques. He also has experience with Markov Chain Monte Carlo simulation methods, Gibbs sampling technique, matrix theory, marketing segmentation analysis, and analysis of survey/observational study data. Dr. Vaish developed RTI’s SAE production system by seamlessly integrating various software, including SAS, SUDAAN, and Microsoft Office products.
Dr. Vaish has extensive technical and fiscal experience in project management and has managed projects totaling more than $15 million in budget. He currently leads the production of state and substate small area estimates using data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health. His duties involve designing and implementing complex analysis plans, producing technical reports, meeting press release deadlines, managing the budget, communicating with clients regularly, leading project meetings, and producing monthly progress and cost-to-complete reports.
