Abby Watson is a member of the RTI Center for Water Resources. As a professional engineer in Colorado, she has expertise in scenario planning and complex decision-making in the context of deep uncertainty. She applies various models and tools to water resource planning problems, working with stakeholders to develop holistic solutions.

Currently, Ms. Watson is helping develop an operational forecast system for the Reservoir Management group of Alabama Power Company (APC). Her role involves building a rule-based RiverWare model of reservoir operations on the Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers. She is also involved in a Department of Energy initiative to understand and balance the conflicts between hydropower operational flexibility and non-power outcomes, such as environmental and societal impacts of river flow changes.

Ms. Watson joined RTI in 2020. Previously she worked for Denver Water on the water resources modeling team, applying a water allocation model of the South Platte and Colorado River systems to conduct yield analyses and scenario planning modeling.
