Aquantix Technologies LLC secures exclusive rights to commercialize this innovative RTI solution, bringing real-time water intelligence to schools, airports, campuses and public facilities worldwide
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC — RTI International, an independent scientific research institute, has licensed its innovative RTI Aquantix™ water filter management solution to Aquantix Technologies LLC, a new startup focused on advancing real-time water quality intelligence. The partnership pairs RTI’s engineering and scientific expertise with Aquantix’s mission-driven approach to scale the solution across high-need environments worldwide.
RTI Aquantix is a hardware, software and IoT network infrastructure solution that enables continuous monitoring of point-of-use water filters through a centralized dashboard across facilities, campuses and public spaces. The technology was developed by RTI to address the challenge of maintaining water filter effectiveness in high-traffic environments, where filters often expire before scheduled replacement intervals.

By partnering with Aquantix Technologies LLC, we’re streamlining the delivery of this innovative technology to the communities and institutions that need it most.”

Aquantix Technologies will now lead commercialization of the platform, integrating the RTI technology into a broader water intelligence system that makes filter performance visible in real time. The goal is to help facilities ensure clean water at every tap — and to give organizations a reliable, data-driven way to protect people without guesswork.
"Millions of people rely on water from buildings with aging infrastructure, and facilities often have no way to know whether filters are still doing their job,” said Riley Mulhern, Ph.D., CEO of Aquantix Technologies. “Real-time monitoring changes that. Our goal is simple: help facilities deliver safe water all the time. This partnership with RTI allows us to scale Aquantix quickly and responsibly.”
With the exclusive license in place, Aquantix Technologies will expand deployment to school districts, airports, healthcare systems, higher education campuses, and other high-traffic settings where water safety and operational efficiency are critical.
Point-of-use filters can remove contaminants like PFAS and lead from plumbing, but without timely maintenance, aging filters can fail and pose health risks by releasing trapped pollutants back into the water. Aquantix is currently in use at several locations including Denver International Airport, a large public university and at RTI’s headquarters in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, where maintenance teams can easily monitor filter performance, receive customized notifications and share public dashboards with users via QR codes.
