RTI Statement on New USAID Administrator Samantha Power

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, North Carolina — Paul Weisenfeld, Executive Vice President for International Development at RTI International, a nonprofit research and international development institute, released the following statement congratulating Samantha Power on becoming Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID):

“On behalf of RTI International, I would like to extend our congratulations to Ambassador Power on her being sworn in as the 19th Administrator of USAID, the U.S. agency charged with leading America’s international development and humanitarian efforts.

“Throughout her distinguished career as a journalist, activist, and diplomat, Administrator Power has proven herself to be a talented leader with a deep and demonstrated commitment to serving others and improving the lives of the most marginalized.

“Furthermore, we welcome the Biden Administration’s previous announcement to elevate Administrator Power’s role as a member of the National Security Council. This decision shows an understanding of the importance of development as a critical part of U.S. global engagement. As a partner of USAID and the American people, RTI is proud to join these efforts which strengthen America’s national and economic security.

“We look forward to working with Administrator Power and the USAID team in advancing their mission of creating a healthier, safer, and more prosperous world.”

At RTI, Weisenfeld leads the international development practice, which designs and implements programs across a wide range of sectors to address complex problems and improve lives in lower- and middle-income countries and communities.
