RTI Joins Forces with Founder of ‘Girls Who Code’ for International Women’s Day

Panelists will explore individual and collective paths to gender equality and uncovering new ways to #BreakTheBias

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – RTI International, a nonprofit research institute, is virtually opening its doors on March 9 in recognition of International Women’s Day. To help honor this year’s theme, #BreakTheBias, RTI will welcome Reshma Saujani, Founder and CEO of Girls Who Code and the Marshall Plan for Moms, to speak at a virtual event open to the public and media. The event will include a panel of RTI leaders who will engage in important conversation about overcoming bias at work and beyond.

  • Keynote speaker; Reshma Saujani: Ms. Saujani is a leading activist and the founder of Girls Who Code and the Marshall Plan for Moms. She has spent more than a decade building movements to fight for women’s and girls’ economic empowerment, working to close the gender gap in the tech sector, and most recently advocating for policies to support moms impacted by the pandemic. Ms. Saujani is also the author of the new book, PAY UP, set to release mid-March and the international bestseller Brave, Not Perfect. Her influential TED talk, “Teach girls bravery, not perfection,” has more than five million views globally.
    • Ms. Saujani will provide remarks and answer questions from approximately 11:10 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. EST
  • RTI Panelists include a variety of experts in industries such as public health, global development, economic development, and technology. Attendees will hear insights from:

    • Jackie Ndirangu, research public health analyst

Why: International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8, recognizes the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. This year’s theme, #BreakTheBias, encourages people to imagine a gender equal world, free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination and act against bias.
